Heat 2

Monday 1st June saw the second heat of Norwich Idol 2009 take place at The Cottage Public House in Silver Road, Norwich and although there wasn't quite as many spectators on hand this time it was still a very impressive turnout and to boot we got six contestants all looking to try make there way through to the final on 29th June.

This week the choice of songs seem to favour the ballad route with all six contestants going with slow songs, however, that did not take away from the quality of vocal performance that we were to witness for the second heat running.

The song choices and order of play was:

Simon - Fly Me To The Moon - Frank Sinatra

Kerry - Somewhere Over The Rainbow  - Eva Cassidy

Don - My Way - Frank Sinatra

Jessica - Warwick Avenue - Duffy

Rob - Nobody Knows - Tony Rich Project

Andrew - Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol

The judges on the night were Billy, Dawn and Susie and were again marking on Presentation, Vocal Talent, Star Quality/Entertainment Factor.

The points were very close and we did check them again twice as they were that close, four of the contestants being split by a mere 4 points. However the top three on the night were Jess, Kerry and Rob who all qualify through to the final on Monday 29th June 2009 and will be going for the 1st prize of £100 cash and a qualification through to Anglian Idol 2009 later this year at Hopton Holiday Village.

A big thank-you to everyone on the night and I must say that you were all superb. A big thank-you again to the judges for making some hard decisions on the night and also to Kev and Chrissy at The cottage for hosting the event.

Heat 3 takes place on Monday 15th June and is a last chance heat. To book in, please click here.

Heat 3

The final heat of Norwich Idol 2009 took place at The Cottage and although there was horrendous weather conditions over the Norfolk and North Suffolk area on the lead up to start time it was still a good turnout to watch and produced a five strong line-up on the contestants front. Unfortunately, there were a few which had to pull out at the last moment so this total was down on previously booked total but was still impressive.

Again, there was a large selection of tunes on offer which are listed below in the order performed:

Marlene - Hallelujah - Alex Burke

Connie - Fast Car - Tracy Chapman

Peter - Devil In Disguise - Elvis Presley

Fred - I Feel Good - James Brown

Faye - Simply The Best - Tina Turner

The judges on the night were Billy, Dawn and Susie and were again marking on Presentation, Vocal Talent, Star Quality/Entertainment Factor.

Again the judges had a hard job with the points very close but the points showed it was Faye, Fred and Marlene who were going through to the final on 29th June 2009.

A big thank-you again to the judges for making some hard decisions on the night and also to Kev and Chrissy at The Cottage for hosting the event.

Hopefully see you all at the final which takes place at the Cottage on 29th June. Be there for an 8.30pm start.

The competition was extremely close and with some superb performances on the night and I must say that the quality was superb and that everyone deserved a place in the top three.

All the acts performed two songs in a mini-cabaret style set and were marked across the two songs.

On the night, the judges had a nightmare and took half hour to make their decision with the marks being so close. On the night the top three were:

It was Faye who was given the nod as Norwich Idol champion but the top three from the night will all represent The Cottage at Anglian Idol in November.
