Ultimate Karaoke Gig Reports

2010 is looking to be another cracking year on the UK calendar however one noticeable difference is that there is no Anglian Idol 2010 competition this year. We are still doing the competitions and you can check out the competitions on the comps page or on the calendar page. We are looking at trying to do a smaller version of Anglian Idol and we will keep you posted as to how our progress is going.

Heat 1

The Caxton Factor 2010 rolled into Beccles on Sunday 7th November as Heat 1 took place once again for the 2010 running. This competition is the first since the 2008 running with it taking a break in 2009. 8 contestants took to the stage for what would turn out to be another great heat. The details of the singers and there songs are below:

Beth & Lucy – Gimme, Gimme, Gimme – Abba

Rickey – This Ain’t A Love Song – Bon Jovi

Dale – Mustang Sally – The Commitments

Ben & Stacey – Against All Odds – Phil Collins

Mo – Amazed – Lonestar

Gemma – To Love Again – Alesha Dixon

Lance – Lipstick On Your Collar – Connie Francis

Jayne – The Other Side – KT Tunstall

All acts were judged on Presentation, Vocal Talent & Star Quality and thanks to the judges for all there help.

After a superb competition, Ricky, Mo and Gemma were put through to the final by the judges. However, Ricky informed us that he was unable to make the final and automatically gave his place away on the night rather than leave it to the final which deserves full credit for honesty, so thank you for that. This left room for another qualifier and it was Jayne who was next in line.

Well done to everyone involved and well done to the top three. The next heat is on Sunday 21st November at 7pm. Hope to see ya all there.

Heat 2

A fantastic sized crowd filled the Caxton Arms in Beccles for Heat 2 of the Caxton Factor 2010 and were greeted by 6 contestants of which only one was a returnee from Heat 1 which was fantastic.

Again the judges would be judging on Presentation, Vocal Talent and Star Quality / Entertainment Factor. The judges for the evening were Liam, Pat and Sarah.

1 Helen  -  Stand By Your Man – Tammy Wynette

2 Libby  -  Chasing Pavements - Adele

3 Andy  -  Mustang Sally - Commitments

4 Steve  -  Stairway To Heaven – Led Zepplin

5 Chantel  -  Make Ya Feel My Love - Adele

6 Lance  -  Lipstick On Your Collar – Connie Francis

The top three were: Andy, Libby and Chantel

Big thank you’s to the judges and of course all the contestants and everyone for joining in. Another fantastic night was had and remember that next week on 28th is the final chance for Heat 3 where another three will go through to the final on 12th December.

Come support us if ya can and remember you can enter on here on the entrance page or pick up an entrance form from the Caxton arms. Hopefully see you all next Sunday.

Heat 3

The final heat produced a slightly down on normal turnout of contestants with only four taking part in the final heat of the competition. However it was one of the best atmospheres of the competition so far as the Caxton faithful really piled the pressure on the contestants.

The contestants were:

1. Benji   -  Guilty - Blue

2 Bridget  -  Mustang Sally

3 Lance  -  Lipstick On My Collar – Connie Francis

4 Tony  -  Say Something – James

Because we aint that mean, the decision was taken to put all four through to the final on 12th December making a prefect round number final of twn contestants and what a night that is shaping up to be.

If ya can make it for the final, please arrive early to get your places as it is promising to be a very full affair on the night. Bring as many people as we kick off the and theme it with the first of a few Christmas parties the Caxton are doing. Get involved if ya can and hope to see ya there. We have pulled start time forward to half 6 to make sure we get through everything.

See ya then

The Final

A totally packed Caxton welcomed the contestants back for the Grand Final of the Caxton Factor 2010 competition and a great atmosphere to boot as well. Unfortunately 2 of the acts never turned up on the evening which was a real shame however 8 did return to put on a feast of entertainment for the waiting crowd.

5 judges were on hand to make the decisions, those being: Zak, Rio, Mick, Michelle and Pat. They were judging the acts on: Presentation, Vocal Talent and Entertainment Factor / Star Quality. Each category carried 10 marks each with a maximum of 30 for each act and a maximum of 150 across all five judges

With all the rules out of the way, it was show time.

The results were read and the judges had decided the following:

3rd     Gemma

2nd     Chantelle

Mo had gone one better this year from his runner up spot two years ago.

Massive thanks must go to the judges on taking on a huge decision as the quality was fantastic and choosing the winner. Also huge thanks to Mick and Jayne for holding and sponsoring the event and to everyone for attending whether it be to take part or to support the event.

Well done again to Mo, Chantelle and Gemma and hope to see you all for the 2011 event.
