2010 is looking to be another cracking year on the UK calendar however one noticeable difference is that there is no Anglian Idol 2010 competition this year. We are still doing the competitions and you can check out the competitions on the comps page or on the calendar page. We are looking at trying to do a smaller version of Anglian Idol and we will keep you posted as to how our progress is going.

Southwold Idol 2010

Kings Head, Southwold

Heat 1

6 contestants kicked off the 3^rd running of Southwold Idol 2010 with a pretty large crowd on hand to view the competition. The competition was judged by two visitors to the town, Dave and Mick, and the contestants were judged on Presentation, Vocal Talent, and Star Quality.

The judges came back with the decision that Mick, Aaron and Natasha were the highest scoring contestants on the night and so progressed to the final which is on 1^st April 2010 at the Kings Head.

Heat 2

Heat 2 saw a drastic drop to just three contestants for this competition and rather than exclude just one person the decision was made to send all three through to the final. The three contestants were:

Martin – Breakfast At Tiffany’s – Deep Blue Something

Tom – Be Mine – David Gray

Claire – Don’t Marry Her Have Me – Beautiful South

Heat 3

Heat 3 saw a better turnout from the audience however we were still limited to just three contestants and again all three were awarded there place in the final. The three were:

Daryl                Don’t Be Cruel – Elvis Presley

Debs/Sammy    Walking After Midnight

Tyler                Because You Loved Me – Celine Dion

Grand Final

The grand final finally came around and with 7 out of the 9 qualified contestants returning for the final, another good night was in store for us all. With a large crowd on hand, the atmosphere for the third year running at this event was electric.

The contestants were:

Daryl

Claire

Tom

The judges on the night were Paul and Mark and were judging each act on Presentation, Vocal Talent and Entertainment Factor.

After a long night of songs and listening to all the singers the judges retired for their decision and came back with the top four as follows:

4^th – Aaron

3^rd – Daryl

2^nd – Claire

1^st – Natasha

Well done to everybody for taking part in the competition whether it have been the final or the heats, whether you were a singer or just watching we thank you all. Cheers to Mary and all at the Kings Head and here’s looking to 2011.
