Sea-Breeze Talent Contest 2008 – Heat 1 – 23rd April 2008

Heat 1 of the Sea-Breeze Talent Contest produced a seven competitor turnout which was great and with a large variety of songs on offer it was going to be a cracking first heat.

The running order was:

Sherry & Mel – You Still The One – Shania Twain

Chelsea – Can’t Fight The Moonlight – Leanne Rhimes

Becky & Chantelle – Like A Virgin – Madonna

Jules – Sweet Dreams Are Made Of this – Eurythmics

Helen – Daydream Believer – The Monkees

Pat – Buffalo Solider – Bob Marley

Maz – Delilah – Tom Jones

The judges for tonight were local circuit singers, Nick Moore & “G” so a big thank-you to them.

After listening to all the contestants, it was decided by the judges that Jules and Becky/Chantelle had done enough to secure their place in the final so well done to them.

A big thank-you to everyone at the club for hosting the event and of course if you wish to get booked in for future heats then you can do so by clicking here

Next Heat – Wednesday 7th May

Sea-Breeze Talent Contest 2008 – Heat 2 – 7th May 2008

Heat 2 the Sea-Breeze Talent Contest 2008 raised another respectable entry of 7 contestants thorough this would have been more for the reason that a couple of contestants had to drop out at the last minute due to unforeseen circumstances. What was also good to see was that there were other entries this week to what there were in Heat 1 rather than the entries just returning. With this in mind, it looked like we were in store for another cracking night.

The seven contestants had again picked a large selection of songs and they were as follows:

Chris/John - Lose Yourself - Eminem

Chelsea - My Heart Will Go On - Celine Dion

Dave – Wonderful World

Pat - Streets Of London - Ralph McTell

Mel - Honey I'm Home - Shania Twain

Chris - All Shook Up - Elvis Presley

Kev – Come Up And See Me – Steve Harley & The Cockney Rebel

Once again a big thank you to the judges, "G" for returning for his second heat and Dick Ray (who stepped in at the last minute for Nick Moore who had car trouble), both judges professional singers, for casting a beady eye over our singers and for deciding who will go through to the final on Wednesday 4th June 2008.

After a short period, the judges decided that Mel & Chelsea were the qualifiers so they will join Becky/Chantelle & Jules in the final on 4th June 2008.

Once again a big thank-you to everybody at the club for hosting the event.

Sea-Breeze Talent Contest 2008 – Heat 3 – 14th May 2008

Heat 3 soon came around on 14th May and another decent entry of competitors all ready to go at it to try and claim their place in the final on 4th June 2008. With 7 entries in total, another great night was in store.

The line-up was:

Chris – All Shook Up – Elvis Presley

Pat – I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker – Sandi Thom

Budgie – American Trilogy – Elvis Presley

Heidi & Sherry – The Reason – Hoobastank

Chelsea & Chantelle – Angels – Robbie Williams

Maz & Helen – Lipstick On Your Collar – Connie Francis

Minx – Candyman – Christina Aguilera

The line-up was boosted by all-girl vocal trio Minx, however, sadly the girls had to drop out due to one of their group going down with cronic toothache which had got progressively worse through the night meaning that they were unable to perform leaving us with six contestants.

The judges once again were both circuit singers, both of whom were our regular judges, these being Nick Moore & “G”.

The judges decided that Budgie & Chris should proceed through to their final after hearing there songs by Elvis so they will join the others who have already qualified so congratulations to them.

Once again another good night at the Sea-Breeze Club. Many thanks to Pat, Merv and all the team at the Sea-Breeze for hosting the event and many thanks to the judges for their constant support as they cast a beady eye over the talent before them.

Next week’s heat is on Tuesday 20th May. This has been moved from the Wednesday due to the Champions League Final. If you wish to enter next Tuesday, you can do so by clicking here or you can enter on the night at the venue.

Again, a big thank-you to everybody for their continued support as most people are attending every week which is fantastic and great commitment.

 Sea-Breeze Talent Contest 2008 – Heat 4 – 20th May 2008

Heat 4 came around in a shot as we once again invaded the Sea-Breeze Club for Heat 4 of their 2008 vocal talent search. Again another fine entry of competitors arrived so yet another good night was in store.

Nick Moore unfortunately was ill on the night so “G” was again one of our judges and a big thank you to “G’s” girlfriend who kindly stepped in for the night and done some judging.

Sherry/Heidi were put through and Beth was the other qualifier from the night with both acts going through to the final on 4th June.

The final heat is on 28th May so if you wish to get booked in for this heat please do on the competitions page or book in on the night.

Heat 5 - ?

  Sea-Breeze Talent Contest 2008 – Heat 5 – 28th May 2008

Heat 5 and the final chance to qualify arrived at the Sea-Breeze on the 28th May and we were greeted with a seven act entry which included two members of Minx (Heat 3) back without one of their members as she couldn’t make the final. With everyone ready to give it one last push to try and qualify, another great night of action was in store and we were not disappointed.

In a slight change to previous weeks, we decided to put three acts through to add to the final. Nick Moore returned to the judging panel and he was joined by one of the customers who gladly helped us out, so a big thank-you to Leon for stepping in, again at the ninth hour as “G” was away at a gig.

Songs wise, we were treated to again a large array of songs:

Heidi – Hero – Mariah Carey

Chelsea & Bobbi – Man! I Feel Like A Woman – Shania Twain

Hannah & Emily – Dancing Queen – Abba

Claire – Somewhere Over The Rainbow – Eva Cassidy

Maz & Helen – These Boots Are Made For Walking – Nancy Sinatra

Helen – Delilah – Tom Jones

Pat & Merv – Merry Christmas Everyone – Slade

A quick mention must go to the last act who decided to add to there act by dressing Merv up as Santa who promptly popped out from the toilets playing a hoover pipe which went down well with the crowd on hand and was very funny indeed (see photo’s for this)

The judges choose Claire & Hannah/Emily (2 members of Minx) and Maz/Helen as the three acts to qualify so well done to them with all the top three performances well worthy of a place in the final.

So there you have, the complete line-up. Unlike other competitions, we are not going to reveal what songs the acts are singing until the night, so if you want to find out then you need to be there or log on after the final for a full list. Well done to everybody on qualifying and commiserations if you didn’t qualify.

Hopefully see you all on Wednesday night for the final. Below is your final line-up.

The Final Line-Up

Heat 1 – Jules & Becky/Chantelle

Heat 2 – Chelsea & Mel

Heat 3 – Budgie & Chris

Heat 4 – Beth & Sherry/Heidi

Heat 5 – Claire, Hannah/Emily and Maz/Helen

 Sea-Breeze Talent Contest 2008 – The Final – 4th June 2008

The final of the Sea-Breeze Talent Contest finally arrived at the Lowestoft venue on Wednesday 4th June 2008 and with it bought some talented singers and a huge crowd to welcome all the acts. Below are the order in which the acts performed and also what songs they performed. Again, a public draw was done, and this was the result.

The Line Up

Emily & Hannah – Girls Aloud – Jump

Sherri & Heidi – Think Twice – Celine Dion

Chelsea – My Heart Will Go On – Celine Dion

Chris – Suspicious Minds – Elvis Presley

Becky & Chantelle – Build Me Up Buttercup – The Foundations

Jules – This Is My Life – Amy McDonald

Mel – Get Happy – Zoe Burkitt

Beth – She Want’s To Be Me – Busted

The judges for the evening were John Bullard, “G” and his other half Mel so a big thank-you to all three for putting pen to paper on the scoring side of the show.

A huge turn-out of people really built the atmosphere perfectly and as usual the nerves were really taking a battering but I must say that all acts on the night really did put on a great performance and it was so good to see that everyone had raised their game which is what we like to see here at Ultimate Karaoke.

Once all the acts had performed, the judges disappeared and it took them some time to split the top two with the scored being added and added again to make 100% sure they were correct. It was tight once again with just three points separating the winner and the runner-up. It was Chelsea singing Celine Dion’s ‘My Heart Will Go On’ who took the title with Hannah & Emily scooping the runners-up prize so well done to most of them.

Finishing off, I would just like to say a big thank-you to everyone who supported the competition, whether you supported one week or all the weeks, thank-you. Without your support these competitions will not go ahead.

Well done to Chelsea for taking the title for 2008 and watch this space as there may well be a 2009 event. We will have to wait and see.

Cheers to Pat, Merv & Keith and all the staff at the club for hosting the event.
